Imagine your lying in bed drifting off to sleep when you see a spot in the corner where the wall meets the ceiling. This is no ordinary spot, this is a spot of mustard paint poking out beneath the beige paint. Now you can't think of anything except the spot. How could anyone miss it? How long has it been it there? 6 months, 10 months, a year already?

Now that you are thinking about it that isn't the only spot. There is one the color of your grandma's sofa hiding next to the shower, and a pigeon shaped one under your flat screen TV. Suddenly a dozen more spread through out the house spring to mind. Each time you host a dinner party, you cross your fingers hoping no one will notice. You keep promising your self that you will never hire an inexperienced contractor again. The price is never worth the bad work.

If you have ever had an experience like this just remember you are not the only one. At Professional Painting we understand your dilemma, after all we are home owners too. We know your home is sacred, its the place you unwind after a long day. Its the place you entertain and host movie nights. Did you know exterior paints differ widely from interior paints? Exterior paints contain additives which help prevent fading, stop mildew, and resist tannin stains. They also contain less rigid resins than interior paints, in order to protect against rain and ice. You never want to use an indoor paint on the outside of a building.

What about the equipment used for exterior painting? Did you know that a caulking gun is essential? Second only to a power washer and air compressor? Did you know most latex paint will crack if applied at temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit? What about how to avoid brush marks, lap marks, drips, runs, and sags? There are a hundred other tips and tricks professional painters use. Some are simple, others can only be learned through practice.

Professional Painting has over forty years’ experience painting houses just like yours. There is no substitute for experience. We have tens of thousands of hours on the job. Our familiarity with the process makes us quick and efficient. We know the value of time, so we won’t waste yours. We show up on schedule, ready to work. We never make you wait.

We also know how to listen. Plenty of our competitors don’t listen to their customers concerns. One of our top priorities is to ensure your project is done the way you want it. Anything else is wasting both your time and ours, and we won’t abide that.

Messes are another thing we won’t tolerate. A certain amount of clutter is natural for any painting project, but we consider anything more unacceptable. We condense our clutter to our workspace and tidy up after ourselves.

We thrive because of you. We recognize and honor your importance, so we always put you first. Call Professional Painting today to schedule your free consultation! 530-227-0924

Most people lump professional painters into one group. After all, isn’t all painting basically the same? Whether interior or exterior, residential or industrial, they all require the same types of materials and know-how, right?

This is a common misconception. Some materials are the same, some aren’t. For instance, interior paint should never be used on exterior jobs. This is because the finish wouldn’t last a winter. Another example, painters can complete some residential jobs with nothing more than a step stool. Some industrial jobs, on the other hand, require 40-foot ladders. Industrial projects tend to be vastly more complex their residential counterparts.

Experience is helpful when working a residential job, but essential when working an industrial job. Painting a house bears little resemblance to painting a high-rise—especially when you’re five stories up on a gusty day. In that case, experience trumps all.

Fortunately, Professional Painting has it in droves. We work outside, inside, up-side, and down-side. Over the past 40 years we’ve painted hundreds of industrial facilities. From hospitals to warehouses, hotels to shopping centers, we’ve done it all, and more importantly, we’ve done it right.

Complex jobs require both a comprehensive design and an abundance of preparation. A good contractor knows preparation can take 30% of a project’s time. Competitors often skimp on details like this, we don’t. Without an actionable plan, projects drift off schedule and off budget, and that is unacceptable.

Experienced contractors include a little wiggle room in their design to compensate for unexpected surprises. The larger the project, the more likely a contractor will have some surprises. We factor this into our margins to ensure your project comes out on budget and on time. Remember, we’re sticklers for the details. It’s one of the things our customers love about us.

Refinishing treated wood is 3 times as difficult as finishing untreated wood. First, you must inspect the wood to determine what you’re dealing with. Then you must purchase the appropriate paint or stain stripper.

Figuring out which type you need can be a daunting task, as many varieties exist, each suited for a slightly different purpose. Once you find the correct paint or stain stripper you have to apply it. Applying a paint stripper is a messy, but fairly easy process. As long as you apply the minimum amount required, the paint will come off, leaving you with bare, natural wood.

Applying a stain stripper, on the other hand, is sometimes more of an art form than a science. You must be cautious to apply even coats, otherwise, the finished product will come out splotchy.

Even if you execute this step perfectly, some sections of stain will persist. It often happens around corners, rounded sections, and knots in the grain. You will likely need to sand those sections to remove the remaining stain. Then you must allow the wood to dry and scrape off the stripper using a brush and putty knife. Hopefully at this point you are left with clean, natural wood.

In the next step, you must apply the paint or stain. Once again, paints are more forgiving than stains. You’ll need dozens of hours of practice to produce a professional-looking finished product, but stains require triple that amount.

It’s difficult to gauge how much stain each section of wood will absorb. Some sections of wood are more dense, while some are less dense. These differences change the absorption rates. The more stain absorbed, the darker the stain. To complicate the matter, even coats of stain are essential, which is easier said than done.

As you can tell, refinishing wood is a complicated, messy, time consuming project. If you don’t have experience, especially with stains, the potential for failure is high. Even if you enjoy DIY projects, it’s a good idea to hire out this particular job until you have more practice.

At Professional Painting, we have over 4 decades of experience painting and staining. We know the materials. We have the equipment. And most importantly, we have the hands on experience. Call us now to schedule a free estimate! 530-227-0924

If your concrete is strewn with cracks, discoloration, and other imperfections, chances are it needs restoration, not replacement. Much can be done with modern treatment materials, like skim coats, spray coats, stamp overlays, self-leveling overlays, and underlays.

Of course, refinishing or restoring anything is both time consuming and labor intensive. If you read the section above on “Wood Refinishing and Restoration,” you should have some idea of the complications faced when refinishing a deck.

Refinishing concrete, on the other hand, comes with its own set of obstacles. The process requires a great deal of patience, experience, and a good pair of rubber boots. It typically takes only a few days (more for larger jobs) to clean the concrete, apply the refinishing product(s), and allow it to dry. It is a messy and unforgiving job. If the treatment is applied improperly, fixing it can easily cost twice as much as the original estimate.

If you’re considering refinishing your deck or driveway, please call Professional Painting. We have both the tools and experience needed for the job. Call today to schedule your free estimate! 530-227-0924
